  • 2003 Ski-Doo Rev 600 H.O. Arm Bushing Replacement

Something wasn't quite right in the front suspension of my sled - on the trail could hear something banging. I noticed there was play in the bushings where the a-arms attached to the bulkhead.

Indy Project Sled - Plastic Skis

Here's another mod for handling that also looks better than the stock item. SLP skis are fairly expensive, so they need to work well to be worth the money. And in my opinion, there is no question they are worth the price.

    Reversing the Process

Putting the new track in pretty much involves doing all these steps in the reverse order. That is easier said than done, especially when it comes to putting the drive shaft back in. First off, if you have a buddy who can help this part is a lot easier. I'm not saying you can't do it alone, but if you try to do it by yourself make sure no neighbor kids are around because you're going to use some adult language.

Indy Project Sled - XTRA-10 Installation

By itself, installing an XTRA-10 in an older Indy is really easy. Essentially you drop the old suspension out, measure carefully for the new mouting holes, relocate the suspension mount plates, drill the new holes and bolt in the XTRA-10. Ride height is just slightly higher than the stock '90 Dial-A-Just suspension, but after 10 minutes on the sled, that becomes a non-issue, especially after you hit that first big bump on the trail

    Getting Started

You're going to want to get a couple of parts out of the way before you start on actually pulling the track out. First thing is to lift the hood and remove the belt. After that you're going to pull the driven clutch off. It just has a little bolt that holds it in place and once you remove the bolt you can slide the clutch off. Be careful and make sure you keep track of how many spacers/washers go on the bolt side of the clutch and how many go on the bulkhead side. Also note that the clutch is held from rotating by a key in a key way. Don't loose this key.

    Polaris 600/700RMK Track Swap

The quest for more traction when playing in the mountains seems to be never ending. Current machines like the Polaris 700 RMK and Ski-Doo Summit X offer very good power and with their stock tracks they are pretty good goers in the steep and deep.
