Q: hey my name is nick and i have a question on my new sled. it's and arctic cat zr 600 1999 and i want to know how i can lift up the front end so that it sits up higher off the ground. I was hoping that you could tell me how to do that to the front and back end of the sled.
A: Short answer, if you crank up the spring preload on the font and rear springs the sled won't droop as much when you get on it. ON a cat with the TSL link on the back track tension has a lot to do with sag in as well. If the track too loose the sled will sag in quite a bit when you sit on it. I have to be honest though, I find myself asking why you would want the sled to sit higher in the air. Generally this makes the sled more tippy, which normally isn't wanted in your ride.

Q: studding: when you stud your track, do you have to cover certain things to protect components?
A: Most sleds require some kind of tunnel protection when putting in studs. Generally the heat exchangers are under your butt and you don't want the sleds to rub against them. SKI-DOO sleds have plastic inserts that slide directly into a groove of the heat exchangers so the job is quite easy. The models that don't require any protection are late model fan cooled sleds (as they have a lot of clearance between the tunnel and the track) and the Polaris sleds from the late 90's to mid 2004 or so. These Polaris models had tall but narrow heat exchangers that sat right over the holes in the track so there was no change at throwing a stud into the heat exchanger. Note that you should also keep proper track tension or the studs will rub on the inside of the tunnel at high speeds.

Q: I have this exact sled and i really wanna do that wide end kit...where do u get this from...Please help!...ive looked all over!
A: I assume you mean the project 500 sled that Doug Ritter did a few years back? I did the same thing to my sled....I found the parts at a wrecker where they came off a 1996 XCR 600. I got the radius rods and fox gas shocks for $200. What you're looking for is a Polaris sled (1995-1996 or so) that has a 10" travel (some say Xtra 12" on the trailing arm) and doesn't have the CRC front end (which was listed on the steering arm).

Q. can i put an exhaust silencer off a zr900 caborated sled on my zr 900 fuelly
A. This would best be answered by the manufacturer of the silencer. For example the SLP units require the use of a Boondocker control box but the Speedwerx silencers don't list anything like that.

Q:I have a 1999 Grand Touring SE, the skis and carbides are shot and was looking to convert to the Pilot 5.7's.... I there anything special I need to consider? Will it be a straight forward swap from one to the other? different bushings, mounting, etc??? Thanks.
A:Going off the aftermarket supplier websites it looks like the spindles are the same from 99 forward right up to the XP sleds, so these skis should bolt on without any problems.

Q:I have a 1999 700 mountain max and want to put delta force reeds and power incorperated pipes on and wonder if I have to fatten up my jets and what kind of hp gain will I get? Thanks much!
A:When you buy pipes for your sled they will come with needle and jetting recommendations for the pipes. Note moving from a single pipe to a triple pipe will also require a clutch kit to be installed as your powerband will be completely different then the way that the machine shipped from the factory. Without the clutch kit you'd be wasting your money on the pipes.
A 700 MM triple with reeds and triple pipes should be around 135 hp. Note however that a stock 2002 700 RMK makes 128 and a 2004 Firecat was around the 140 HP mark.  I think it's time to take a long hard look at the Mountain Max to see if it's a good idea to be putting the money into pipes.

Q:I have a 09 ski-doo renegade x black with silver lettering. I wanted your cover in silver instead of the blue accent can you do this. Or can you offer any suggestions. I think it would look smart. It doesn't even have to be a high rise seat just a cover would do.
A:If you go to http://www.ski-doo.com/en-US/PAC/ and click on "Colored body parts" you will see all the options they have available for both height and colors.

Q:re: '80 Polaris TX-L 340 featured on www.off-road.com > where did you get parts for it from, specifically the big bore kit?
A: SLP's website is http://www.slp.cc/ but I have no idea if they still have this kit available...you could also keep an eye on ebay to see if one comes available.

Q:1985 skidoo formula mx with a 467 in it what are the carburator settings?
A:That's a pretty old buggy. I don't know the carb settings off the top of my head an any online microfiche's I found (e.g. Ronnies @ http://www.ronnies.com/micro.htm) starts at 1996. I would suggest getting in contact with a dealer for those setttings.

Q: re: 2003 beaver tail removal - I am considering this project and I am curious about the long term results of the kit. Were there any issues with cooling on this sled? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
A:I had one day in the spring where I had cooling issues...it was very warm the day before and then cold at night so the snow had a thick layer of crust on it. The temp light would come on every mile or so and I had to pull to the side of the trail to pick up some fresh snow. It's worth noting that 2 other sleds were having problems overheating that day as well though (stock 2002 Polairs 700's) so I don't think it's the fault of the kit.
