Avoid Mechanical Trouble on the Trails

Getting Ready For The Ride
Nov 1, 2005

We have all been there, riding down the trail and we see a fellow snowmobiler, having trouble with the sled. Possibly you have been that person with a machine that has just barfed up its lunch in the form of a track, belt or fouled plug.

Are You Giving The Sport a Bad Name?
Nov 1, 2005

For many years, snowmobilers have gotten the bad rap, mainly due to a few people that just don't get the sport and what the snowmobiling community represents. We all know these people.

Thinkin' Snow - the latest....

Nov 1, 2005

So what are the ThinkIn' Snow editorials anyway? We're asked that a lot and the answer is very simple. ThinkIn' Snow is the Off-road.com Snowmobile Online's Internet soap box. Like the soap box at the town square of days long past, but only for the snowmobile community at large. We try to have an editorial every month on a topic that we want to sound off on. Sometimes that doesn't happen however

ATV Tires for Mud and Snow
Nov 1, 2005

When we started Project Foreman we knew that one of the areas that we'd have to address was tires. The manufacturers of ATV's try to provide a general-use tire that's a jack-of-all-trades and master of none. What you end up is a tire that's ok, but not really good at anything such as being a good mud tire or one that works well in the snow. After getting stuck a lot with the stock tires and using a winch more often than we cared for, we knew the stock tires weren't enough to do what we wanted and needed to accomplish. We use the Foreman for trail maintenance all summer; the smooth winter snow trails are creek beds and mud holes all summer. We needed a change.

The New Aluma-Fold Aluminum Trailer by JZ Manufacturing

Mar 1, 2004

Every once in a while, a manufacturer will contact us about trying out a new product before it hits the production lines. Occasionally a product will arrive at our doorstep that is so unique, we just can't wait to get our hands on it and see if it is as good as it sounds. Such was the case when we heard from Jamie Zelm of JZ Manufacturing about his new, Aluma-Fold Utility trailer, a compact and versatile trailer tailored for small vehicles, such as ATVs or lawn tractors, perfect for hauling supplies and materials or dumping while doing a job. It was exactly what we'd been looking for with a summer of trail grooming ahead of us.

Project Yamaha VMax Traction Upgrade Performance Results

Thumbs up for traction via Camoplast
Feb 1, 2004

The difference between the original equipment track and the new Camoplast Trail Performance 1" lug track is like night and day. The stock Yokohama track held up well for over 3,000 miles but had no real bite, even with 96 studs in it. When we picked up the XTC as our Project Sled, we knew the track was a short lived item. The studs were ground to basically nothing and the track had some minor to moderate damage down to it.
